I live in Terni. This is where I set off from early in the morning, and where I come back at night to download the cards, even when the wedding was on the other side of Umbria or in Tuscany. Being based in town means knowing the roads, knowing how the light changes in the afternoon inside a stone church, and how long it really takes to drive the couple's car up into the hills. Things you don't see in the photographs, but that matter on the wedding day.
I photograph weddings and nothing else. I stay close to what is happening without interrupting it: no staged poses, no shot list to tick off. I watch you, and I tell the story.
Terni is my base, not my border
I have worked often in this province: in Amelia, in San Gemini, in the abbeys of the Valnerina, in Orvieto and the countryside around it. But I follow weddings all over Umbria (Assisi, Spoleto, Lake Trasimeno, Perugia) and just as many in Tuscany, from Florence to Chianti. If you are getting married in Terni or nearby, you have the advantage of proximity. If your celebration is two hours away by car, little changes for me and nothing changes for you.
On why Umbria works so well for a wedding, and which areas to choose, I have written a wider guide to being a wedding photographer in Umbria.
Places I already know
This is not a list of venues seen online: these are weddings I photographed, and the full stories are on the site. I know the Abbazia San Pietro in Valle well, and no two weddings there have been alike: Julie and King's, thirty guests over three days, and Valentina and Thomas's, celebrated in the church. At Tenuta del Gallo, in Amelia, sunset comes long and low over the countryside. In San Gemini and at Castello di Montignano the ceremony was in the village and the party among the olive trees. Then Villa Laura in Orvieto, Castello di Titignano above Lake Corbara, and Borgo Antichi Orti in Assisi.
Knowing a place in advance changes the way I work. I already know where to stand during the ceremony without ending up among the guests, what time the light turns onto the façade, and where to take you for ten minutes alone if the schedule slips. And when the venue is new to me too, I prefer to visit it before the day whenever I can.
How it usually goes
I arrive early and stay out of the way. I follow the preparations, the ceremony, the slow hours of the reception, the party once it warms up. I ask for very little: a portrait at sunset, if the light is worth stealing ten minutes from you. With foreign guests I speak English, which happens here more often than you might think.
The full gallery arrives in sixty to ninety days: private, password protected, ready to download and to send to anyone who couldn't be there. A preview in the days right after the wedding is possible, but it is not included in every collection.
Most couples today choose a venue with a civil or symbolic ceremony on site. But if you are marrying at the town hall, in Terni or elsewhere, that suits me perfectly well: the rooms are small and the timing is quick, so I arrive early, look at where I can stand, and photograph without flash and without walking in front of you.
What it costs
My collections start from €2,500, taxes included, and cover the day and the private gallery. The fuller versions add a fine art album, a second photographer and more hours of coverage. What each one contains, and the current figure, are on the Pricing page.
If you would rather understand how to read a quote, and why two photographers can be two thousand euros apart, I have covered it at length in the guide to wedding photographer costs in Italy.
If you'd like to write to me
Tell me the date and where you are getting married: I'll let you know if I am free and send you everything else, with no rush and no forms. If you are still at the beginning and only want to get a feel for things, look at the portfolio or read a whole story. It is the most honest way to find out whether the way I see things resembles you. Write to me here.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a wedding photographer in Terni cost?
My collections start from €2,500, taxes included, for coverage of the day and the private online gallery. In Umbria an experienced professional usually sits between €2,500 and €5,000: the difference comes from the hours of coverage, a second photographer and printed products. Current prices are on the Pricing page.
Do you only work in Terni?
No. Terni is where I live, but I photograph all over Umbria and Tuscany, and I follow couples across Italy and abroad. I know the province well, but it is not the perimeter of my work.
Is travel included?
Yes, within 150 km of Terni with the base collection, and within 250 km with the fullest one. Beyond that, and for destination weddings, I prepare a dedicated quote with the expenses listed before you sign.
How far in advance should we book?
Couples usually write to me six to twelve months ahead, and dates from May to October are the first to go. I take on few weddings a year, but ask anyway: sometimes the date is still free.
Do you photograph civil weddings too?
Yes, at the town hall as well as at a venue. Today most couples choose a civil or symbolic ceremony right where they celebrate, but town hall rooms are not a problem: they are intimate spaces, so I work without flash and stay out of the guests' line of sight.
How do you deliver the photographs?
In a private online gallery protected by a password, in sixty to ninety days. For a full wedding that usually means between 500 and 800 images. A preview in the days right after the wedding is possible, but it is not included in every collection. The rest of the process is in the frequently asked questions.
